NHL Streaming in Canada 2026-27: Sportsnet+, Prime Video and TSN Explained

Short version for 2026-27: almost every NHL game in Canada now runs through Sportsnet+. Wednesday nights are exclusive to Prime Video, Monday nights are exclusive to Sportsnet+ (not on the TV channels), and TSN's regional games (Maple Leafs, Senators, Jets, English Canadiens) need a TSN subscription. In French it's TVA Sports (national), RDS (Canadiens and Senators) and Prime Video (Wednesdays). For the first time in 74 years, no NHL game airs on free over-the-air TV: CBC's Hockey Night in Canada ended after the 2025-26 season.

What changed this season

Rogers' new 12-year NHL deal started with the 2026-27 season and reshuffled everything:

Who holds what

Out-of-market games (any team)—Sportsnet+ Premium

Sportsnet+

Sportsnet+ is the streaming side of Sportsnet, sold with or without cable. Standard streams the Sportsnet channels — national games plus your region's regional games — and is included if you already get Sportsnet through a TV provider, except for Monday Night Hockey, which needs the $12.99/month add-on. Premium ($345/year in 2026-27) adds every out-of-market game and lets you pick the home or away feed; it replaced the old NHL Live / NHL.tv in Canada. If you follow a team outside your region, Premium is the tier you need.

Blackouts follow the TV rights: a Senators regional game on TSN is not on Sportsnet+ even with Premium, and Wednesday games are not on Sportsnet+ at any tier.

Prime Video: Wednesday Night Hockey

A regular Prime membership includes the Wednesday games and the three playoff series — no hockey add-on. In 2024-25 and 2025-26 Prime had Monday nights; that window went back to Sportsnet this season. The Prime games do not appear on any TV channel, so if you check the NHL on TV tonight page on a Wednesday and see fewer games than expected, that's why.

TSN Standard and TSN Premium

TSN holds regional rights for the Maple Leafs (shared with Sportsnet), Senators, Jets and the English-language Canadiens games. TSN's own streaming subscription ($24.99/month Standard, $29.99 Premium, formerly TSN+) streams TSN1–5 without cable, which covers those regional games — but nothing national. Leafs fans in Ontario typically need both TSN and Sportsnet+ to see every game.

French: TVA Sports, RDS and Prime

TVA Sports renewed its French national package for 12 years alongside the Rogers deal, including Saturday nights and the playoffs. RDS carries the Canadiens' and Senators' regional games in French. Both stream through their apps with a TV-provider login. Prime Video's Wednesday games are also produced in French.
